Solidarity March 18

Keeping Families Together

Today our families and friends gathered for a Solidarity Walk to stand with immigrant families. Across our nation, many hearts are breaking over the separation of immigrant children from their parents. Personally, it stokes a fear of mine that I work hard to keep at bay, the loss of my child. I felt strongly about channeling my heart break into positive action to show empathy for the families affected by this cruel policy.
Our small community stood tall and brave and walked in silence, to send a personal message to immigrant families, “We Are With You.”
We walked down Grand Avenue and stopped in front of restaurants and businesses, holding our signs high to put this issue on the radar of our town.
It is my hope that our small action sends light and love from Oakland, to the mothers, fathers and children directly affected.
